SUMMARY:(R1.3) The Energy Code and Additions\, Alteration\, and Repairs and (R 3.1) Residential Air Barrier and Insulation Installation - (MS Private Event - Home Builders\, Remodelers Association Central MA)
DESCRIPTION:Please Contact Patricia Chalifoux to register!\nE-mail: pat@hbracm.com\nPhone: 508-791-5595\nHome Builders\, Remodelers Association Central MA\n51 Pullman Street\nWorcester\, MA 01606\nwww.hbracm.com \n  \nCEU’s – 2 CSL Credits \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION: \nResidential renovations\, alterations\, repairs\, and additions make up the largest proportion of building permit applications; yet\, confusion abounds as to how the energy code applies such as when duct testing is required\, how should ducts be insulated\, and blower door testing requirement for additions. This course will cover several of the most common types of existing home projects and describe the applicability of the most important energy code provisions. \nChecklistThe installation of a continuous air and thermal barrier is perhaps the best and most cost-effective way to reduce energy waste and save money on utility bills; at the same time\, important details are often missed. This course will be framed around the 2018 IECC Air Barrier and Insulation Installation criteria found in Table 402.4.1.1 with photos and graphics to illustrate non-compliant and compliant installation of critical details like attic penetrations\, wall-to-ceiling transitions\, rim joists\, garage walls\, knee walls\, and tubs and showers on exterior walls. Installing and inspecting insulation to meet code and manufacturer requirements will also be discussed.

Building inspectors cannot directly verify every aspect of the code\, but luckily\, there are experienced energy professionals who can provide verification and documentation of the most important energy code requirements. Clear and consistent documentation improves energy code compliance and saves time. This course covers critical documentation including ERI/HERS\, ENERGY STAR v 3.1 reports\, as well as PHIUS/Passive House. The presenter will review example reports and describe how to interpret essential data\, along with keeping track of this information with a one-page checklist created by the Mass Save Energy Code Technical Support Program \nLearning Objectives\n• What is the Stretch code\n• HERS Rating Documentation\n• ENERGY STAR HOMES Documentation\n• Passive House Documentation \nCommercial Webinar – 2018 Commercial IECC Update (2:05 pm – 3:05 pm)\nCOURSE DESCRIPTION:\nIn March 2019\, the BBRS approved the 2018 IECC with MA amendments as the baseline energy code. This new energy code had an effective date of February 7th\, 2020\, with a concurrency period expiring on November 7th\, 2020. These presentations will highlight the salient changes to the base energy code. Which include changes to compliance paths\, prescriptive and performance requirements\, and documentation requirements. \nLearning Objectives\n• Primary changes for Commercial Buildings\n• MA Amendments

DESCRIPTION:NYSERDA Energy Code Training provided by Performance Systems Development\nT02-07-2947 \n(C2.2) Prioritizing ECCCNYS Enforcement for Commercial Buildings (Part 2)\nT02-07-2947 \nCOST:\nFree registration for New York Code Officials.*\nUse discount code: NYCEO\n*For use by New York Code Officials only.\nAll Others: $15.00 \nCONTINUING EDUCATION:\nArchitects: 1.5 AIA LU | HSW\nHome Performance Contractors: 1.5 BPI CEUs\nCode Enforcement Officials: 1.5 NYS DOS In-Service Hours \nTo receive credit\, participants must log into the GoToWebinar application within the first 15 minutes of the training and stay until the end of the webinar. VIDEO VIEWING IS REQUIRED! \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION: \nIn a robust study of commercial buildings\, 21% of the energy code provisions investigated were responsible for 81% of the potential savings. This created a framework for prioritizing energy code enforcement efforts based on the time it takes to verify a code provision versus the energy savings potential. With code enforcement officials being strapped for time and having other life-health safety priorities\, this course\, Part 2 of a two-part series\, covering high-impact commercial mechanical and lighting requirements\, will help them prioritize efforts\, improve compliance\, and maximize the realization of savings inherent in the energy code. \nLearning objectives: \nIdentify the energy code requirements with the greatest energy impacts and prioritize energy code documentation \nDescribe a process for creating and reviewing plans that includes documenting and assessing the highest impact energy code provisions \nUnderstand how to integrate provided construction details verification forms and checklists into normal compliance documentation or enforcement processes \nIdentify permit application specifications that enable a simplified plan review process as well as a process for providing or collecting verification forms

SUMMARY:(Encore of Oct Webinar) 4.3 Designers\, Builders\, and Code Officials Working Together for Energy Code Compliance
DESCRIPTION:Due to last week’s storm in Massachusetts\, we are having an encore presentation of the October Webinar presented by Mass Save. \nMake sure to use the GoToWebinar link to obtain video access\, this is required and verified for CEU credit. VIDEO VIEWING IS REQUIRED! \nCEU’s: 1 CSL\, 1AIA\, I BPI\, 1 Code Official \nCommercial Webinar – Designers\, Builders\, and Code Officials Working Together for Energy Code Compliance (2:05 pm – 3:05 pm) \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION:\nThe role of architects and designers versus builders and building owners regarding energy code-compliant design and construction is not always clear. Architects and designers are responsible for providing compliant drawings but may not be tasked with handling third-party documentation or on-site supervision. Conflicts may arise when these roles are not clearly delineated in the scope of work. This module will cover various energy code documentation requirements and construction supervision duties and present various models and best practices for who is responsible for what. Code officials will also benefit from this session by gaining a more thorough understanding of documentation and verification process. \nLearning Objectives\n• Roles of the project team\n• Steps in the compliance process\n• Co-learning and collaboration opportunities
