SUMMARY:The 2018 IECC for Pennsylvania - Residential
DESCRIPTION:Description: \nThe 2018 IECC went into effect on February 14\, 2022 (happy Valentine’s Day!) bringing with it significant energy savings\, mainly from improved envelope tightness. This training will include a high-level review of building science concepts including basic thermodynamics (how heat moves)\, including stack effect\, and conditions that result in optimum occupant comfort. The program will focus on high-impact energy code provisions and items with relatively high noncompliance as found by a DOE/PNNL field study completed in 2018. Specific topics will include envelope insulation\, air sealing\, and testing\, whole-house mechanical ventilation\, HVAC equipment sizing\, duct insulation\, sealing\, and testing\, and service hot water pipe insulation and circulating system controls. Instructors will also present the use of checklists and third-party verification forms. \nLearning objectives:\n1. Identify significant changes between the 2015 and 2018 IECC\n2. Describe the science behind building energy efficiency and occupant comfort and productivity\n3. Identify the energy code provisions with high impact but low compliance rates\n4. Understand how reduced air infiltration rate requirements will impact design\, construction\, and code enforcement \nContinuing education: Three (3) hours. SUMMARY:MA - R4.2 Stretch Code Documentation (PRIVATE EVENT - Town of Wareham)
DESCRIPTION:Make sure to use the GoToWebinar link to obtain video access\, this is required and verified for CEU credit. VIDEO VIEWING IS REQUIRED! \nCEU’s: 1 CSL\, 1AIA\, I BPI\, 1 Code Official \nResidential Webinar – Stretch Code Documentation \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION:\nBuilding inspectors cannot directly verify every aspect of the code\, but luckily\, there are experienced energy professionals who can provide verification and documentation of the most important energy code requirements. Clear and consistent documentation improves energy code compliance and saves time. This course covers critical documentation including ERI/HERS\, ENERGY STAR v 3.1 reports\, as well as PHIUS/Passive House. The presenter will review example reports and describe how to interpret essential data\, along with keeping track of this information with a one-page checklist created by the Mass Save Energy Code Technical Support Program. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES:\nLearning Objective 1:\nExplains the documentation requirements for those using the HERS path for energy code compliance in Massachusetts \nLearning Objective 2:\nExplains the documentation requirements for those using the Energy Star path for energy code compliance in Massachusetts \nLearning Objective 3:\nExplains the documentation requirements for those using the Passive House path for energy code compliance in Massachusetts \nLearning Objective 4:\nDiscusses compliance tools and checklists that have been created to help navigate the Massachusetts residential energy code
