AIA LU|HSW\, BPI\, ICC\, PA UCC\, NARI \nThe 2018 IECC went into effect on February 14\, 2022 bringing with it an annual savings of up to 14 percent. This training will include a high-level review of building science concepts including basic thermodynamics (how heat moves)\, including stack effect\, and conditions that result in optimum occupant comfort and productivity. The program will focus on high-impact energy code provisions and items with relatively high noncompliance as found by a recent PNNL commercial energy efficiency field study. Specific topics will include envelope insulation and air sealing\, mechanical system control configurations\, economizers\, kitchen ventilation\, energy recovery ventilation\, demand control ventilation\, and lighting controls. These topics will be framed in terms of entering and reviewing COMcheck inputs and outputs for accuracy regarding the submitted construction documents. Instructors will also present the use of example checklists throughout the program. \nLearning objectives: \nIdentify significant changes between the 2015 and 2018 IECC \nDescribe the science behind building energy efficiency and occupant comfort and productivity \nIdentify the energy code provisions with high impact but low compliance rates \nDescribe mechanical system and lighting control configuration requirements

VIDEO VIEWING IS REQUIRED! \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION\nRigid foam board and spray foam insulation are common material choices to help achieve energy code compliance\, but when installed improperly can create fire hazards. Foam products general must be covered from the interior with thermal or ignition barriers\, but sometimes may be left exposed via “specific approvals.” The challenge for homebuilders\, design professionals\, insulation contractors\, and code officials is knowing which requirements apply to which applications. This course will cover RCNYSrequirements for common applications of foam insulation in residential construction\, including crawl space walls\, basement walls\, roofs\, attic hatches\, knee walls\, rim joists\, and exterior sheathing. These requirements will be presented in the context of meeting ECCCNYS requirements for these building components. \nLEARNING OBJECTIVES:\n1- Understand the thermal envelope insulation requirements of the energy code\n2- Differentiate between several categories of common foam insulation materials\n3- Describe common applications of foam insulation materials and under what conditions these products need to be covered\n4- Locate and use documentation for “specific applications” for when foam may be left exposed

DESCRIPTION:2018 IECC for Pennsylvania – Residential – (Morning of May 16th) \nThe 2018 IECC for Pennsylvania – Residential \nContinuing Education: Three (3) hours. AIA LU|HSW\, BPI\, ICC\, PA UCC\, NARI \nThe 2018 IECC went into effect on February 14\, 2022 bringing with it significant energy savings\, mainly from improved envelope tightness. This training will include a high-level review of building science concepts including basic thermodynamics (how heat moves)\, including stack effect\, and conditions that result in optimum occupant comfort. The program will focus on high-impact energy code provisions and items with relatively high noncompliance as found by a DOE/PNNL field study completed in 2018. Specific topics will include envelope insulation\, air sealing\, and testing\, whole-house mechanical ventilation\, HVAC equipment sizing\, duct insulation\, sealing\, and testing\, and service hot water pipe insulation and circulating system controls. Instructors will also present the use of checklists and third-party verification forms. \nLearning objectives: \nIdentify significant changes between the 2015 and 2018 IECC \nDescribe the science behind building energy efficiency and occupant comfort and productivity \nIdentify the energy code provisions with high impact but low compliance rates \nUnderstand how reduced air infiltration rate requirements will impact design\, construction\, and code enforcement

SUMMARY:(R6.1) Don’t Be Left Exposed – Part 1: Meeting the Energy Code with the Safe Use of Foam Insulation
DESCRIPTION:NYSERDA Energy Code Training provided by Performance Systems Development \nR6.1 – Don’t Be Left Exposed – Part 1 – Meeting the Energy Code with the Safe Use of Foam Insulation\nT02-07-3158 \nCOST:\nFree registration for New York Code Officials.*\nUse discount code: NYCEO\n*For use by New York Code Officials only.\nAll Others: $15.00 \nCONTINUING EDUCATION:\nArchitects: 1.5 AIA LU | HSW\nHome Performance Contractors: 1.5 BPI CEUs\nCode Enforcement Officials: 1.5 NYS DOS In-Service Hours \nTo receive credit\, participants must log into the GoToWebinar application within the first 15 minutes of the training and stay until the end of the webinar.

SUMMARY:Harrisburg - The Energy Code and Remote Virtual Inspections
DESCRIPTION:The Energy Code and Remote Virtual Inspections (RVI) – (Morning of May 11th) \nThe Energy Code and Remote Virtual Inspections \nContinuing Education: Three (3) hours. AIA LU|HSW\, BPI\, ICC\, PA UCC \nThis program will help municipalities better understand how virtual inspections can save time and energy and provide a framework for determining when virtual inspections are appropriate and useful and when they are not. The training will also demonstrate a process for using widely available video conferencing platforms such as Zoom and Teams to guide a builder’s representative through a job site to perform an inspection from their office or home. Using additional photo documentation will also be discussed. Finally\, attendees will discuss how to determine the types of inspections that lend themselves best to being conducted virtually. \nLearning objectives: \nDescribe the pros and cons of Remote Virtual Inspections \nUnderstand a protocol for performing remote energy inspections \nDiscuss the use of photo documentation in the inspection process \nImproved their inspections of residential energy code requirements
