SUMMARY:(C1.1) Mechanical Systems for Large Commercial Buildings (Pt 1)
DESCRIPTION:NYSERDA Energy Code Training provided by Performance Systems Development \n(C1.1) Mechanical Systems for Large Commercial Buildings (Part 1)\nT02-07-2910 \nCOST:\nFree registration for New York Code Officials.*\nUse discount code: NYCEO\n*For use by New York Code Officials only.\nAll Others: $15.00 \nCONTINUING EDUCATION:\nArchitects: 1.5 AIA LU | HSW\nHome Performance Contractors: 1.5 BPI CEUs\nCode Enforcement Officials: 1.5 NYS DOS In-Service Hours \nTo receive credit\, participants must log into the GoToWebinar application within the first 15 minutes of the training and stay until the end of the webinar. VIDEO VIEWING IS REQUIRED! \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION:\nLarge commercial buildings are common in large urban areas\, and while less common in suburban and rural areas\, they have large per-building energy impacts. This program will prepare design professionals and code enforcement officials ensure their work results in buildings with better-than-average energy use intensities.\nAttendees will be asked to pinpoint the locations in construction documents where various mechanical controls and equipment specifications are (or should be). Guided discussions will help attendees identify the best ways to provide adequate documentation on plans and inspect or elucidate control configurations in the field. \nLearning Objectives:\nAttendees will be able to…\n1. Understand the types and basic functions of common and complex HVAC systems\n2. Identify where ventilation and related equipment are required including economizers\, demand-controlled ventilation\, and energy recovery ventilation\n3. Understand fan power limitation calculations and how to determine if systems meet code limits\n4. Know when commissioning is required and identify what is needed to show compliance

SUMMARY:The 2018 IECC for Pennsylvania - Commercial (Private Event – AIA Eastern PA)
DESCRIPTION:Private Event – AIA Eastern PA – Contact Megan Henry at megan.leigh.henry@gmail.com for information on how to register. \nDescription:\nThe 2018 IECC went into effect on February 14\, 2022 (happy Valentine’s Day!) bringing with it an annual savings of up to 14 percent. This training will include a high-level review of building science concepts including basic thermodynamics (how heat moves)\, including stack effect\, and conditions that result in optimum occupant comfort and productivity. The program will focus on high-impact energy code provisions and items with relatively high noncompliance as found by a recent PNNL commercial energy efficiency field study. Specific topics will include envelope insulation and air sealing\, mechanical system control configurations\, economizers\, kitchen ventilation\, energy recovery ventilation\, demand control ventilation\, and lighting controls. These topics will be framed in terms of entering and reviewing COMcheck inputs and outputs for accuracy regarding the submitted construction documents. Instructors will also present the use of example checklists throughout the program. \nLearning objectives:\n1- Identify significant changes between the 2015 and 2018 IECC\n2- Describe the science behind building energy efficiency and occupant comfort and productivity\n3- Identify the energy code provisions with high impact but low compliance rates\n4- Describe mechanical system and lighting control configuration requirements \nContinuing education: Three (3) hours. PA UCC\, ICC\, AIA LU|HSW
