VIDEO VIEWING IS REQUIRED! \nCOURSE DESCRIPTION\nIn a robust study of commercial buildings\, 21% of the energy code provisions investigated were responsible for 81% of the potential savings. This created a framework for prioritizing energy code enforcement efforts based on the time it takes to verify a code provision versus the energy savings potential. With code enforcement officials being strapped for time and having other life-health safety priorities\, this course\, Part 1 of a two-part series\, covering high-impact commercial envelope requirements\, will help them prioritize efforts\, improve compliance\, and maximize the realization of savings inherent in the energy code. \nLearning Objectives:\n1. Identify energy code envelope requirements with the greatest energy impacts and prioritize energy code documentation\n2. Describe a process for creating and reviewing plans that includes documenting and assessing the highest impact energy code provisions related to envelope\n3. Understand how to integrate provided construction details verification forms and checklists into normal compliance documentation or enforcement processes\n4. Identify permit application specifications that enable a simplified plan review process as well as a process for providing or collecting verification forms

SUMMARY:MA R3.1 Residential Air Barrier and Insulation Installation (PRIVATE)
DESCRIPTION:Make sure to use the GoToWebinar link to obtain video access\, this is required and verified for CEU credit. \n\nVIDEO VIEWING IS REQUIRED! \n\nCEU’s: 1 AIA\, 1 BPI\, 1 CSL\, 1 \n\nBuilding official Residential Webinar – Residential Air Barrier and Insulation Installation\n\nCOURSE DESCRIPTION: \n\nThe installation of a continuous air and thermal barrier is perhaps the best and most cost-effective way to reduce energy waste and save money on utility bills; at the same time\, important details are often missed. This course will be framed around the 2018 IECC Air Barrier and Insulation Installation criteria found in Table 402.4.1.1 with photos and graphics to illustrate noncompliant and compliant installation of critical details like attic penetrations\, wall-to-ceiling transitions\, rim joists\, garage walls\, knee walls\, and tubs and showers on exterior walls. Installing and inspecting insulation to meet code and manufacturer requirements will also be discussed. \n\nLEARNING OBJECTIVES: \n\n1: Discuss the importance of air barriers in a home \n2: Identify the Massachusetts residential energy code requirements for air barriers \n3: Identify the Massachusetts residential energy code requirements for insulation \n4: Explore the 2015 IECC Table R402.4.1.1 and how it applies to new construction
